~Candle Making & Painting~

~There`s a little candle~
glowing in the night
helping to give some light
if more little candles
shone around the world
they`d make the world so bright!

Stained glass Candle Windows

We cut out circles from cardboard.........
then circles from contact and attached to the back
we stick on our designs.....................
then stick on pieces of torn up kite paper.

To warm up our spirits on cold days................

OK mum`s got a inspiration !!!! Lets make a snow candle.......

here we go..............................
I need a base?
look what is in the bottom of the saucepan from yesterdays candle making.
great...............we have a base now.

just as the wax is starting to set
we whip it with a fork ............
and then spoon on to a ready made pillar candle......

We drip wax over our base to form icicles.......
children very curious about what mum is up to here.....

............... ~Snow candle~..........................

~Candle Dipping~

We melted different colours of wax into cans
then we started dipping our wicks in.................
I found the children having two wicks to do
helped them to wait between dippings.........................

these are the beautiful candles we made....
It was truly magical as the candles dried
the colours changed if by magic...............................

~ Glass Lanterns ~

lots of painting..........the gold was very enchanting....

~ Beautiful lanterns to warm our Winter nights ~

~Floating Candles~

we melt the wax................
which the kids loved breakingup with hammer and srewdriver.

then poured the melted wax into moulds & cookie cutters
the children put the wicks in when the wax started to set.

~ Enchanting candles on a Winter Day~

~Star hexagon star Lanterns~

(( At night when the candle is lit stars appear))
~all in amazement to the children~

~Paper Star Lanterns~
water colour painted paper

Let dry over night then the fun begins................

we traced circles then folded following instructions
how does that go mmmm......
lets unfold the one given to us...........
rrrrrrrrrr Stephanie I wish u were here...
then we kept trying and all of a sudden...
it just started folding into place..................
we were so happy we kept trying and didn`t give up..

~They are trully beautiful~

A star lantern alight at nightime

~Rolled Beeswax Candles~

I find the beeswax sheets I bought at the steiner fair.........
we unfold them
a sweet smell fills the air
we cut the sheets and start rolling...........
our candles ~come to life~ by our hands.

Snowman Painting & Making

~Frosty The Snowman~

we rolled balls of wool and then needle felted together
and these cute snowmans appeared................................

~Snowman & Snow~

Cirletime Song

Snowflakes so light
snowflakes so bright
cover the earth
and make it white

Roll the snow over and over
roll the snow over the ground
pat it and shape it
making a snowball round
three balls we take
top with a hat
tie on a scarf
making a smiling snowman

Come little snowflakes
dance through the air
making the world so pure and fair
light and bright
sparkling white
soft as the wings of the dove i.n flight

~ SnowFlakes~

~~Snowflake Painting~~

We first used white beeswax crayons to draw snowflakes
then we painted over them with watercolour paints......
many excited wows as they appeared.....................

~Crystal Snowflakes~

First we made snowflake shapes with pipe cleaners
then mixed borax with hot water in jars...............
we sat the snowflake pipe cleaners in the solution....
but mum how does this make crystal snowflakes????
you will have to wait and see.............
lots of peeping........

Then when they awoke in the morning............

mum mum come and see what has happened..........

Crystal Snowflakes

we placed them on our winter altar.

~Snowflake paper punch~

This is a fantastic book ,very well designed
and easy to follow instructions with beautiful designs.

Snowflake pattern pieces...............

Fold some paper..........................

Cut some edges off................

Trace around the patterns..............................

Carefully cut the pattern out.......................

Carefully start unfolding so intrigued at what it will be........

A beautiful snowflake..............

Really starts to feel colder in the playroom
looking at these on the window..........................
I think a fire needs to be added next...............

Winter Surprise

We ventured out to the garden....
and we were all struck by awe....
to find this beautiful mushroom in our garden...
it is moments like this that touch you in a special way
~~Thankyou ~~
I wonder if a fairy or gnome lives here

Winter`s Handicrafts

Finger Knitting

How beautiful to have your nanna come over on a cold day
and teach you finger knitting.........
sharing skills with family seems so meaningful.....
passing from one generation to another...........

~Winter`s Garden~

I lay you to sleep
in the dark brown earth
sleep, sleep, through the winter
and when you begin to grow
one spring day
when the sun returns its golden glow
awaken to a new day shinning bright
a beautiful flower you will be..........

There is something so beautiful about planting flower bulbs
with children.I find this a way of greeting Winter together
as the days grow colder and the reminder
of the joy of spring when all shines bright again.......

To care for the earth and be close to nature
to know life through these simple moments together...
...................where no words are needed................................
